PI-L networks are sometimes favored for some amplifier designs. A PI-L can be thought of as a cascade of either a PI-net followed by an L-net
(big surprise there), or two L-nets. From either viewpoint, the impedance transformation is being done in several steps instead of one (the PI could be considered two steps by itself).
What might be a reason to choose a PI-L over a PI?
Better harmonic attenuation
Lower the tank circuit Q
Lower stress(I and/or V) on tank circuit components
All the above
Answer: All the above.
